Ashburton Baptist Church

If it is your 1st time with us, we recommend that you arrive 15 minutes before the service commences to meet with the worship team and settle in. When you arrive you’ll be met by one of our (Worship/Prayer Team) who will be on hand to welcome you and show you to a place to sit in the auditorium.

Our services are all 90 minutes long. Please join us afterwards in the Connect Café in the foyer to mingle and enjoy a hot drink.

We are a family-friendly church and welcome babies and children of all ages.

We have a dedicated Parents room for caregivers and parents and their little ones. As well as some fantastic kids church programs that run during the morning service in the school term.  Find out all of the details about the Ashburton Baptist Church Kids programs and facilities here.

Baptism is the physical act of being submerged under water and is a public expression of a deeper spiritual reality in the Christian faith.  It is an outward display of your inward commitment of faith and represents Jesus’ death, burial and resurrection.

Jesus commands every believer to be baptised (Matthew 28:19-20), so at Ashburton Baptist Church we encourage all believers who have accepted Jesus as their Lord and Saviour to be baptised. Even Jesus was baptised as an example for us to follow (Matthew 3:13-17). Baptism is an important part of our faith journey and needs to be done sooner rather than later. Believers in the New Testament (Acts 2:41 & Acts 8:26-39) were baptised on the same day they accepted Jesus.

At Ashburton Baptist Church we encourage people to become a part of our Church family through membership. Membership allows you to have a voice within the family when decisions need to be made and shows your commitment and dedication to our Church family.  If you would like to know more about how to become a member, connect with us here.

We enjoy a wide range of praise and worship music from hymns to contemporary songs and we cater for all ages. Our services are sensitive to the Holy Spirit and sometimes have free worship that flows on from our songs. Please feel free to visit and follow our Spotify playlist and join us in listening to the songs we enjoy.

We have a dedicated car park on Church grounds on Havelock Street. There is also ample free off-street parking available close to and in the vicinity of the Church auditorium.

Please Note : that there are roadworks happening around the Church and all over the Town Centre, so please plan your time to allow for extra time to find parking.

You can be baptised once you are old enough to understand what it means and have made a personal declaration of faith.

If you were baptised as an infant or child, we recognise this as a commitment of faith your family made, however, we encourage you to get baptised as a believer, declaring your love, faith and commitment, following Jesus for yourself.

We have a special ceremony in the service where parents can dedicate their baby to God and dedicate themselves to raising their child with Christian values.

We celebrate the arrival of your new-born with you and look forward to welcoming them into our Church family. If you wish to dedicate your baby, please contact one of our Pastors to arrange a dedication service.
